About this place

Trickster is the least expected thing on this list and one of the most worthwhile. It is a cultural center and gallery dedicated to Native American art and culture, showing contemporary Indigenous artists alongside public programming, talks and events.

The work is contemporary rather than historical, which is the point that surprises most first-time visitors: this is a living-artist gallery, not a display case of artifacts. Exhibitions rotate, so it rewards a look at what is currently showing before you go.

It is a compact visit - half an hour to an hour - which makes it a natural pairing with something else on Roselle Road rather than a trip in its own right. It suits older children and teenagers better than young ones.

Check ahead before traveling. The center's building arrangements are under review locally, and opening hours for smaller cultural venues move around more than those of larger institutions. A quick call is worth it.
