Schaumburg's main library is one of the busiest in the state, and treating it as somewhere you go to borrow a book undersells it considerably. The children's floor alone is a destination on a wet Saturday, with programming, play space and story sessions running through the week.

Beyond the collection there are meeting and study rooms, public computers, a substantial program of talks, classes and clubs for every age, and quiet space that is genuinely quiet - which is harder to find in Schaumburg than it should be.

For new residents it is one of the best first stops in town. A card is free for township residents and unlocks digital lending and databases alongside the physical collection. For visitors, it is a warm, free, comfortable place to spend an hour with children when the weather has ruined the plan.
