About this place

The Al Larson Cultural Center is where Schaumburg keeps its arts programming: gallery space showing regional work, studio classes for adults and children, workshops, and a performance calendar that runs through the year.

The gallery is free to walk into and the shows change, which makes it a reliable thirty-minute stop rather than a full outing - and a good rainy-afternoon option for anyone who has exhausted the malls. Check what is hanging before you go; the program swings between local artist showcases and themed group shows.

The classes are the part residents get most from. Ceramics, drawing, painting and craft sessions run in blocks, aimed at beginners as much as at people with a practice, and they fill up in the way that reasonably priced adult classes always do.

Note the name: the center was renamed in 2026, and older signage, listings and directions may still use the previous name. It is the same building on Schaumburg Court.
