Topgolf Schaumburg

About this place

Topgolf solves a specific problem: what do you do with eight people of wildly different abilities who all want to be entertained for two hours. You take a bay, you hit microchipped balls at targets, the screen keeps score, and nobody has to be able to play golf for it to work.

The bays are heated and covered, which is why this stays a year-round option in the northwest suburbs when most outdoor entertainment shuts down in November. Food and drink come to the bay, so the evening runs without anyone having to leave the group.

Book ahead for weekend evenings - walk-in waits at peak times are long, and the wait is the one part of the experience nobody enjoys. Weekday afternoons are the quiet secret: cheaper, emptier, and far easier with children.

Good for: birthdays, work outings, a first date that gives you something to do, and teenagers who have declared themselves bored. Golfers can also use it seriously - the practice data is real - but most people here are not golfers, and that is entirely the point.
