This is the one people have not heard of, and it is the best answer in Schaumburg to 'we want to do something that isn't dinner'. You and your group become the contestants on a live game show: a real host, buzzers, physical and trivia rounds, teams, a scoreboard and a winner.

It does not require anyone to be clever, which is what makes it work across a mixed group - the rounds are built so that the quiet one, the competitive one and the eight-year-old all land points at different moments. Sessions run to a set length, so you can plan an evening around it.

It sits inside Woodfield Mall, which makes it easy to combine with food or a movie, and it is entirely indoors - a genuinely good rainy-day or deep-winter option.

Best for: birthdays, work teams, extended family who do not otherwise have much to say to each other, and groups of roughly six to twenty. Book ahead; it runs on scheduled show times rather than drop-in.
