Seasons is the sort of place that survives in a suburb by being consistently good rather than fashionable. Hair is the core of the business, with nail and spa services alongside it, which makes it one of the few local options where a wedding party or a before-an-event booking can all be handled in one building on one morning.

That is its real strength: coordination. Getting four people cut, colored, manicured and out of the door on a schedule is a different skill from doing any one of those things, and it is why a lot of the bookings here are group bookings.

For an ordinary appointment, it is a straightforward neighborhood salon on East Schaumburg Road with parking outside. Ask for a specific stylist once you find one you like - the relationship is most of the value in a salon and the front desk will happily keep you with the same person.

Book ahead for weekends and for anything color-related, which takes longer than most people budget for.
