About this place

Grant Achatz opened Alinea in 2005 and it is still the restaurant people travel to Chicago for. The courses are playful and theatrical, and dinner is served in three formats: the Salon, the Gallery and the Kitchen Table.

Good to know: tasting menu only. Open Wednesday to Sunday. Book through the restaurant's website, usually weeks ahead. From Schaumburg it is about 28 miles, or 43 minutes by car with light traffic via I-90.

Two MICHELIN Stars in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Chicago. Michelin names its next Chicago selection on December 14, 2026.
