Capturing light is not easy: ask any outdoor photographer. In order to capture the perfect shot, one has to be ready for fragmentary shifts in illumination. In that spirit, Caught Light is Great Lake Swimmers' ninth album, and perhaps their most nimble: be prepared, don't overthink, act fast. Founder Tony Dekker has always been akin to a wildlife photographer, often choosing to make records in unique surroundings with a connection to Ontario history. This time, he holed up in the Ganaraska Forest, between Peterborough and Port Hope, with producer Darcy Yates (Bahamas) and engineer Jimmy Bowskill (Blue Rodeo). Their goal was to tap the warmth of early '70s folk/pop/rock, whether it be the cozy sonic sweater of Gordon Lightfoot's classic work, or the gentleness of underrated American songwriter Dory Previn. Dekker made everyone listen to John Martyn's 1971 album Bless the Weather before the session. For the first time, Dekker ceded control to a producer, albeit one who had once been the bassist in Great Lake Swimmers (2007-08). Yates chose the studio and the backing band, which included veteran drummer Gary Craig (Bruce Cockburn, Jann Arden), who Dekker calls , "rdquo" -> the Jim Keltner of Canada." Tracking was completed in three days, Nashville-style, with only two days of overdubs, including Colleen Brown's backing vocals. Compare that with 2023's Uncertain Country, which took three pandemic-stricken years to make. Caught Light was captured in the shortest amount of time Dekker had ever spent making a record, and it's likely to be the one with perhaps the longest impact. That's because Caught Light is not just the most fully realized Great Lake Swimmers album in years, but it also leads off with two of Dekker's strongest singles. , "rdquo" -> One More Dance Around the Sun" is an open-window, summer-driving song to accompany a golden-hour trip through the backroads of your childhood hometown. Dekker himself moved back to the Niagara area during the pandemic, with his partner and two young children. , "rdquo" -> I spent the first half of my life trying to get out of the small town where I was born and raised, and I'm spending the second half getting back there," says the songwriter who lived in Toronto his entire adult life until now. , "rdquo" -> It's an ode to the familiarity and the joy in that and the repetition of seeing the same faces and places, knowing all of that very well. It's also important to feel grounded in community, to feel the power of that in a specific place, keeping one's moral compass fixed in the right direction."

Vape! The Grease Parody is a hilariously unhinged spoof of the iconic and timeless musical film Grease. The show pokes loving fun at all of the wonderful moments, sexual innuendos, outrageous characters, rivalries and secret romances from the original. The hair products may have changed, but the drama, the rivalries, and the thirst for hallway clout remain timeless. It is the musical you know and love, but dragged through a cloud of strawberry scented vapor and a TikTok filter. It's the show that you want (Ooh! Ooh! Ooh, honey!) Don't miss the Chicago premiere of this hit musical, straight from NYC. GREASE is no longer the word. Now the word is VAPE! - New York Post A must-see! A fun, irreverent night out. I couldn't stop laughing. - Hollywood Press Corps VAPE! is the one that you want! Clever, goofy and camp. - Theater Pizzazz Brash, fast and unapologetically smart. - Theaterscene.net VAPE! The Grease Parody is 85 minutes with no intermission.

Normal Dreams 'Normal Dreams' is a new performance by dancer Liana Zhen-Ai and musician Astrid Sonne. First presented as a part of the Pairings series at La Mama Experimental Theatre Club in New York, curated and produced by Cameron Sczempka, now brought to London via Club Cheek and Qu Junktions. Expect never heard before songs, movement, noise, props and a video call from the big apple. About Liana Zhen-Ai Liana Zhen-ai is a Brooklyn/London-based dancer and interdisciplinary artist from Los Angeles. She has performed as a soloist with choreographers Holly Blakey, Andrea Miller, and Akira Uchida. Her dancing has been featured in Vogue US, NOWNESS, and Face Magazine, and in venues including MoMA, Lincoln Center, Southbank Centre, and Théâtre Chaillot de Nationale. Liana's work uses the lenses of new materialism and object-oriented ontology to interrogate shame, nature, and narrative. Her choreographic practice sits at the intersection of dance, dramaturgy, and scholarship, and her work has been presented at Prototype Festival, Amant, Center for Performance Research, and Green-Wood Cemetery in collaboration with the New York Philharmonic. About Astrid Sonne Astrid Sonne is a Danish, London based composer and viola player. Throughout her acclaimed discography, Astrid Sonne has been carefully crafting different moods through electronic and acoustic instrumental endeavours. On her most recent album Great Doubt (January 2024) this skill is refined, now with the distinct addition of the composer's own vocal in the fore. The tone of each track is unmistakably Sonne's, structured around contrasts through an impeccable sense of timing. Lyrics on the album are sparse, merely highlighting different scenes or emotional states of being, leaving the music to fill in the blanks. Yet they also form a pattern of ambiguity, consolidated through the album title, searching for answers through looking at how and what you are asking, questions for the world, questions of love.

He also teamed up on a unique version of the Janes Addiction hit Jane Says with Perry Farrell, Billy Corgan, and Jimmy Chamberlin, Franks longtime friend and collaborator.Eddie Harris was born October 20, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He began his career as a singer in various Baptist churches throughout Chicago. Around the age of 3, Eddies cousin, Bernice Benson, who played piano at Eddies mothers church, began teaching him how to play the piano where he learned to play by ear and eventually learned to read music.Eddie learned to play the clarinet, vibraphone, and saxophone while attending DuSable High School in Chicago, Illinois under the guidance of a well-known and influential musical director, Captain Walter Dyett. Captain Dyett was responsible for the development of several Jazz musicians who came out of Chicago from the 1940s to the early 1960s. Eddie always wanted to play the saxophone simply because he admired the way it looked, however in order to play saxophone for Captain Dyett one had to play the clarinet first, so Eddies first wind instrument was the clarinet.
